SOME INTERESTING TITBITS
SELF SERVICE TILLS
A few weeks ago, we went shopping and came across “self-service tills”. Although they still had the normal tills with cashiers, we decided to try it out. What a pleasure! You swipe each article across a flat screen/scanner & pack into the “hanging” bags provided. When finished, it gives you the total due, which you can then pay with cash, eftpos (debit card) or credit card. I placed a $50 note in the slot and it then gave me the correct change in notes & coins. We were amazed that there was no-one around to check!! Can you imagine that in SA??
APPRENTICESHIP BONUS
This week, Andrew had very good news. A representative from the Government came around to see the appies, to check on their progress & also to inform them of double good news. The Government gives all appies an annual bonus of $500 per year which was increased by $500, to a total of $1000 per year, in the last Budget. She also then informed them that because they were doing a “Serious Skills Shortage Apprenticeship”, being Diesel Fitting, they would get an extra $500. Therefore, a total of $1500 per year!!! This is over & above the Tool money they get. Can you believe it!!
TAXI SERVICE
Leon left for the mines again, on Thursday, so phoned the Taxi Company, he used previously, to book a taxi to the airport. He was most surprised when they answered the call by saying, “G’day Mr Kriel” & then proceeded to confirm his address. Talk about service!! Obviously all computerized.
